D.I.Y - Care Package/Valentine's Day Box

Hey darlings! I realize this is a bit late, but this is because I wanted to show this DIY not only as a Valentine's Day idea but as a sweet idea in general, especially if you're in a long distance relationship. Creating a homemade care package is the perfect gesture for a boyfriend, brother, husband, (or girlfriend/sister/wife) or just anyone special in your life who is far away for the time being. It's very inexpensive and really shows that it's the sentimental thoughts that count. Here's one I made and some other ideas of items you can put in it!

First you need to start out with a box, I chose a shoebox because it's the perfect size. And then you need to decorate it with stickers, glitter, confetti, whatever you want. I got this all rom the dollar store.

STEP ONE: Choose your box, choose the decorations you want to use.

Then, using the artistic abilities and aid of Varsha, we both chose how we wanted to decorate the box and cover any details such as the brand name etc.

STEP TWO: Use your materials and cover your box in a creative way.

We decided (well Varsha did!) to cut out the word "love" and stick it on the front of the box, and then underline it with glitter covering the brand name of the shoe box.

STEP THREE: Don't forget to cover the sides! It doesn't have to be perfect, just made with love :)

STEP FOUR: Use the rest of your materials to cover the front and back as well.

We decided to write "OPEN ME" on the front with arrows, and just add some hearts on the back to fill up the white space.

STEP FIVE: Don't forget about the back of the cover when you open the box! This is a great space to write a personal message and decorate it.

To decorate it, I used some craft stuff I had lying around from an old Smash Journal I got from Michael's Craft Store. They're great because they're so random and easy to customize.

STEP SIX: Now your box is done, what can you fill it with? Again, i got almost all this stuff from the dollar store and some of it was some cute stuff from my Smash Accessories.

Mine includes:
- a small frame with a picture of us
- a mug
- chocolates
- a candle
- a Valentine coupon book
- a heart-themed tie
- love notes filled out on Smash Journal Accessories mini notebook paper
- a funny little game (also from Smash Journal Accessories)

Other ideas of items to fill it with:
- socks
- things i miss about you (on playing cards)
- chapstick
- soap
- tea
- funny valentines
- non-perishable food ex. kraft dinner, camp bell's soup, jams etc (decorate)
- mini cologne
- cool book/magazine
- razor blade or razor replacements
- travel size stuff to fit in the box

STEP SEVEN: Fill your box with confetti and you're good to go!

I hope you all enjoyed this DIY and put your own spin on it when you make it for that special someone!
