Hey all! We’re back from Florida, back in school (boooooo), and back with a new Music Monday! This week we’re featuring Aussie band 5 Seconds of Summer (I’m pretty sure you’ve all heard the “American Apparel underwear” song).
They then worked hard putting out covers and working on new material. Eventually, they caught the attention of none other than One Direction, who quickly invited them to open their 2013 Take Me Home world tour. This gained the boys an amazing amount of attention, and the 2014 release of their song “She Looks So Perfect” only added to it.
Luke, 17, takes on the role of Lead Vocalist and Guitarist, Calum, 18, takes care of the Bass & Vocals, while Michael, 18, plays Guitar and does Vocals. Last but not least we have bandana clad Ashton, 19, on Drums & Vocals. They have a pop-punk sound, similar to the likes of Blink-182, Sum 41, and Boys Like Girls. I loved these bands, which makes my love for this band not that surprising. They’re also the biggest dorks on the planet, which is a plus.
This year, the 5SOS boys have been asked to join 1D again on their worldwide stadium tour “Where We Are”, played the Billboard Music Awards, and will release their debut self-titled album on July 22nd!
It’s been a wild half a year so far, and it’s only going to get crazier! I can’t wait to see them in August when they come to Toronto, I mean, who doesn’t love them some cute Australian musicians, huh?!
